The purpose of the Southern Vermont Dairy Goat Association (SVDGA), since its beginning in 1945, has been the promotion of the dairy goat industry.  We are an educational organization with a program which embraces all phases of goat raising.  Some of the problems dealt with include the care and management of raising healthy stock; how to feed and care for the pregnant doe; the importance of using the best sire to improve milk production; the culling of surplus animals; the economic value of the goat as a producer of milk and meat products.

Meetings are held from May through October at our club home in Marlboro, Vermont on Route 9 about 14 miles west of Brattleboro.  During the winter we meet at sites to be announced.

Guest speakers include men and women with experience in the goat world or related subjects.  Programs also include shows, work shops, and exhibits.  We are interested in the 4-H program, hoping to encourage youngsters to become future goat breeders.

We put out a regular educational newsletter, which is sent to all members, and is included in the annual dues.

Membership into our association is open to all those who are interested in the future of goats and who are desirous of improving and increasing their knowledge of goats.  If you would like to attend any of our meetings, we will be delighted to meet you.
